The Net Zero Carbon Guide was produced in 2020-2022

The content in this Net Zero Carbon Guide was produced by Max Fordham and our collaborators in 2020-2022. The approach to net zero carbon buildings continues to evolve, at quite a speed, so some elements of this guide may now be out of date.

The Future of Housing Design

Tim Crocker

From November 2020 to February 2021, Max Fordham ran a Winter Webinar Series titled "The Future of Housing Design". The series covered all aspects of the design of residential properties; from private houses to large-scale masterplans, all with a focus on reducing energy and carbon.

Andrew Leiper, Net Zero Carbon Leader at Max Fordham, rounded up the seven-part series with a "Net Zero Carbon Conclusion".

Glancing into the future of housing design, Andrew presented recent data of high performance multi-residential schemes, along with thoughts on what needs to be implemented to ensure their compatibility with future net zero carbon performance.

The webinar featured two Max Fordham case studies: Agar Grove redevelopment and Max Fordham House, which each won the coveted 'Residential Project of the Year' award at CIBSE's Building Performance Awards in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
